Russia will develop far East transportation and expand northern sea transport capacity

Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the sixth Eastern Economic Forum on September 3, local time, that Russia will develop the transport potential of the Far East region, including expanding the transport capacity of the Northern Sea Route, which should increase the annual cargo volume to 80 million tons by 2024, Sputnik news agency reported.

“We will develop the transport potential of the Far East as the most important part of the global transport corridor, including expanding the transport capacity of the Northern sea route,” Putin said. It should be noted here that cargo volume on the line has grown exponentially over the past decade, from just over 7 million tons in 1986 to 33 million tons last year, and should rise to 80 million tons by 2024.”

The international trade between China and Russia has always been close. Russia vigorously develops transportation, which is also more conducive to the further development of Sino-Russian trade.
